SOLAR ELECTRICIAN – Utility

An Electrician at Arch Electric is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems on ground mount/roof mount solar projects. This role ensures that all electrical work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), company standards, and project specifications. The Electrician will work closely with site leadership, mentor apprentices, and contribute to the successful and timely delivery of renewable energy projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Install Alternating Current conduit, wiring, grounding, and electrical components, including termination to Arch Electric quality control standards.
  • Install Direct Current conduit, wiring, grounding, and electrical components, including termination To Arch Electric quality control standards.
  • Assist racking and module team with racking and solar panel installation if needed.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical specifications accurately.
  • Observe and adhere to all safety policies, including OSHA and company requirements.
  • Complete assigned testing and troubleshooting electrical systems to include open circuit voltage testing, polarity checks, insulation resistance testing, IV curve trace, bolted on resistance tests and grounding system checks.
  • Learn to complete quality control checks to ensure all equipment is installed to Arch Electric standard and labeled with proper photo documentation.
  • Participate in training opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in solar electrical systems.
  • Mentor and oversee apprentice electricians and electrical helpers on the jobsite.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope.
  • Complete necessary documentation such as work orders, inspection reports, and daily logs.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Current Journeyman Electrician license (Wisconsin preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of electrical experience, with at least 1–2 years in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy industrial projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical codes, and utility standards.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
  • Proven ability to use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the jobsite for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands, arms, and legs to install and connect equipment, operate tools, and climb ladders.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Ability to work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required for reading diagrams, making precise connections, and operating equipment safely.

 

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels, vibrations, and construction-related hazards.
  • Work may involve proximity to moving mechanical equipment, energized electrical systems, and heavy machinery.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and fall protection.
  • Travel to remote project sites may be required; overnight stays or extended rotations may apply depending on project needs.
