SOLAR TECHNICIAN – Utility

A solar technician at Arch Electric will assist with a variety of tasks on the jobsite, including site preparation, material handling, and installation support, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are physically fit, reliable, and eager to gain experience in renewable energy construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with site preparation, grading, and general construction tasks.
  • Handle, move, and stage materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
  • Support installation of solar panels, racking, conduit, and electrical components under supervision.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times.
  • Follow instructions from superintendents, foremen, or skilled tradespeople.
  • Assist with erosion control, drainage, and other site-specific tasks as needed.
  • Report safety hazards, incidents, or equipment issues immediately to site leadership.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Previous construction or general labor experience preferred but not required; training provided.
  • Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and take initiative.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the jobsite for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands, arms, and legs to install and connect equipment, operate tools, and climb ladders.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Ability to work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required for reading diagrams, making precise connections, and operating equipment safely.

 

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels, vibrations, and construction-related hazards.
  • Interaction with multiple teams, subcontractors, and supervisors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work may involve proximity to moving mechanical equipment and heavy machinery.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and fall protection.
  • Travel to remote project sites may be required; overnight stays or extended rotations may apply depending on project needs.
